Seeing them as humans, who have ups and downs that impact how they may show up to work -- and that's okay. Beyond retreats, swag, and treats (all of which we also provide), creating a team environment that is a human, kind, and highly empathetic work environment is the strongest way we show we appreciate our team.
DEI and belonging starts and echoes across our product, investors, team, and mission. Some concrete ways include:
1. Hiring: In our job posts, we state and practice: "We are committed to building an equity-driven workplace with a team that is as intersectional as our users and investors. This means meeting with and hiring candidates who are underrepresented in tech, and we will not fill this position without first meeting with a representative group of candidates."
2. Fundraising: 36% of our angel investors are Black and they represent 34% of dollars invested. Overall of our angels, 59% are BIPOC and they represent 46% of dollars invested. We see similar diversity in our funds, 84% are led by a woman managing partner and 57% are BIPOC led.
3. Team/Hiring: The Byteboard team is 57% women/non-binary, 36% Black/Latinx.
Our team values engaging authentically, collective ownership, and shooting for the stars. We laugh together, we work hard to solve real problems together, and we support each other as people first. We are a small and mighty team of individuals committed to creating a more equitable tech industry. This shared mission makes working at Byteboard a constant joy.
