ABOUT THE COMPANY

Kayhan Space is a software company focused on making spaceflight safer by delivering next-generation autonomous spaceflight capabilities. Satellite operators will not be able to keep pace with the growing collision risk using current manual processes which are prone to delays and errors. The Kayhan Pathfinder analytics platform delivers coordinated avoidance maneuver plans autonomously to satellite operators reducing the response time of a critical event by more than 95%.

CULTURE

How do you show employees you appreciate them?

We believe that values need to be built into our culture. Since the beginning of the company, we have made it a priority to show appreciation in meaningful ways. For example, last December we flew all of our team members out for an in-person retreat in Las Vegas. We planned a work-plus fun schedule to enable team-building exercises for the all-remote team that had never met each other. We allowed them to bring their significant others as well. Overall, the retreat was an amazing experience and a great bonding trip for the team. We are planning more trips like this in the future. The birthday lunch program, originally suggested by one of the employees, is another small way to appreciate our employees. On every team member’s birthdays, we order the entire team lunch and try to host virtual lunch sessions. On a more individual level, we perform performance review sessions frequently. These sessions usually include recognition of great performance, constructive feedback, career path development, and sometimes unscheduled promotions. We also encourage team members to recognize fellow team members for outstanding performance. Every week, at least a handful of appreciations are posted on various channels. Other simple team buildings and activities include ordering random gadgets, sending gift cards, and sponsoring small events such as March Madness Competition.

How are you creating a workplace of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging?

Diversity is one of Kayhan's core values, also posted on our website. The company was founded by two immigrants and has continued to provide a warm environment for everyone to feel at home. No matter who you are, you are welcome to be a part of this team. As an example, our team of 20 people speaks 8 languages! We are also a proud sponsor of the Zed Factor Fellowship Program. This program empowers aspiring aerospace professionals from underrepresented backgrounds to explore the aerospace industry through a hands-on, practical internship experience. For the past two years, we have sponsored 3 interns from diverse backgrounds to gain experience through this paid internship program.

Why should someone work at your company?

To leave a lasting legacy! We have a mission to Make Spaceflight Safer and help accelerate the pace of innovation in Space. We empower our employees to have immediate impacts on the entire Space industry.
