Founded in 2018, the Occupier Team combines their deep experience in the commercial real estate (JLL) and proptech industries (VTS, ProCore, WeWork), and applies it to the world of the occupier. The company has created the first intelligent tech stack for real estate management from the tenant's perspective, automating the complicated process of lease administration, lease accounting and transaction management.Occupier is on a mission to help organizations make smarter real estate decisions for their business.

OMERS Ventures and Stage 2 Capital co-led the investment, which included participation from existing backers Metaprop and Alate Partners. The raise brings the total raised by Occupier since its 2018 inception to $15.5 million.

How do you show employees you appreciate them?

Occupier has built a culture of celebration! We high five each other for the big and little wins across the entire organization. From bringing on new customers to shipping a new product, the team always takes the time to acknowledge their colleagues both publicly and in 1x1 settings. Our leadership team loves to surprise their staff with company days off, volunteering opportunities, and even food delivery gift cards.

How are you creating a workplace of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging?

Outside of our two co-founders, our other 4 board members and observers are all female! As our organization looks to hire and bring on new employees, we are remote-first and prioritize recruiting people with unique backgrounds. We know how powerful diverse perspectives can be, which makes us stronger and healthier as an organization.
