Synctera has emphasized the importance of DEIB since its formation and has worked hard to ensure that it is a bedrock of our culture. We aim to create real inclusivity rather than just "checking boxes'' or "hitting numbers.” Our company understands that for Synctera to be a great place to work, it needs to be a place where people can feel comfortable to bring their full, authentic selves each and every day.
When we announced our Series A funding round in June 2021, we were the first startup to join the Cap Table Coalition where we dedicated 10% of the funding round to diversify the VC ecosystem in order to create investment opportunities for Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+, Native American, women, and other traditionally marginalized investors. In our next funding rounds, we will continue our commitment to the Cap Table Pledge.
Since then, we continue to make great strides in creating a workplace of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging by partnering with FinTech partners on DEIB related accelerators, signing the ParityPledge®, and openly writing on our blog about how we’re advancing DEI activities in our organzation.
We have a DEI expert actively advising our company, working directly with our C-suite and leadership team as an HRBP to ensure that our DEI goals, action and behavior starts from the top down. In addition, our DEIC (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee) is newly formed internal advocacy group led by employees that has helped the company celebrate and shine a light on Black History Month, Women's History Month, and moderated Lived Experience Sharing Panels.
In the coming months, our People Team will be rolling out our Refined Authenticity Playbook (the RAP) - putting an emphasis on the importance of authenticity in the workplace and providing tools and resources for authenticity to come naturally across all verticals of the company. The DEIC's theme for our second quarter is "Why DEI'' and will focus on creating even more participation and discussion in all areas of the business.
